Crystals in Art Invitation

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Organized by Crystal Bridges curator of contemporary art Lauren Haynes with guest curator Joachim Pissarro, Crystals in Art: Ancient to Today is the first exhibition of its kind to explore the complex and varied connections between crystal and art throughout the world, spanning history and geography.

DESIGN GOALS
Each exhibition is celebrated with a Director’s Reception, which also honors our donors. The invitation is a physical representation of our institutional “thank you” and also serves to excite and set expectations.

Crystals in Art was a departure from our norm, with objects that dated back to the 1500s and outside of America. I created the concept of the invite to show a short timeline so guests would understand this exhibition spanned 500 years.

To ensure the show was a mix of ancient and contemporary, I paired an elegant serif font with contemporary design and pulled silver foil elements that I used in the gallery itself.

The invite was a card that was inset a booklet with a short timeline, which had an uncoated black cover printed with white, and the front/back inside pages were clear frosted vellum. The dieline for the booklet included offset angular shapes that paired with the gallery design of cut acrylic.
