Border Cantos Collateral

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Border Cantos: Sight and Sound Explorations from the Mexican-American Border, is a unique collaboration between American photographer Richard Misrach and Mexican American sculptor / composer Guillermo Galindo. This exhibition uses the power of art to explore and humanize the complex issues surrounding the United States-Mexico border.

DESIGN GOALS
This exhibition was an idea created by two artists in collaboration, reaching across the border of two countries. I created the identity, gallery, and marketing design materials, focusing on abstracted, uneven lines that depicted the border and the complex conversation around it.

The Director’s Reception invitation was a single fold-out piece, which when stood up made it’s own border line.

The invite was wrapped in an abstracted die-cut sleeve with the exhibition title.

Since this exhibition was a collaboration of only two artists, I wanted them to have equity on the cover of the invite. The left is a work by Guillermo Gallindo, the right is Richard Misrach.

We created a free takeaway guide so the guest could continue their journey and share with others. This was intended to be more formal and scholarly in design, as the target audience was adult and the content was complex. Below is a full digital design file.
